1. Dates & Location

• Four Wednesdays in July 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd. Off July 30th to encourage players to play the US Open in Middleton!

• Location: Growth Chess Center 974 W Main Street Sun Prairie, WI 53590

 

2. Tournament Format:

• Tournament Format: Individual Swiss

• Two Sections: Open & Reserve (U1500), if there are less than 6 players in either sections will be combined. Prizes will still be separate.

• Total Rounds: 4 (1 round each Wednesday night)

• Round Times: Wednesdays at 6:30PM

• Time Control Open: G/60+30  (Game in 60 minutes with 30 second increment on each move)

 

3. Byes

• Byes are available for players in any rounds in case they can't participate that evening, but would like to stay in the tournament.

• A maximum of one half-point byes can be requested in this tournament.

• Round 1-3 byes must be requested prior to the pairing of the round. Pairings usually are posted shortly after noon on Tuesday, the day before the round.

• Round 4 byes must be requested before start of Round 3. Round 4 bye is irrevocable to prevent possible prize-fund manipulations.

• Late registrations will receive a half-point bye for any missed round, up to a total one round.

 

4. Prizes -- $600 based on 20 paid entries. Prizes will increase proportionally after 40 entries.

• 2nd place $120
• 3rd place $80
• Reserve 1st Place $100
• Reserve 2nd Place $80
• Reserve 3rd Place $60

 

5. Prize Fund --  $600 based on 20 paid entries

• Please allow a week for processing prize checks.

• Per IRS rules anyone with a cumulative $600+ prizes in any calendar year will need to fill out a W9 and Growth Chess will be providing a 1099 form.

• Max Capacity: 60

 

6. Registration for Both Sections -- Including Single Game Option!

• $40 by 7/2
• Entry Prorated after each round
• Single Round Option available for any round $15
• Free Entry for NMs & Higher, email info@growthchess.com to register. Early Entry Fee will be deducted from any winnings.

• $5 admin fee for all cancellations & refunds.

Refund Policy: If you register for the tournament and are unable to make it, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance of the start of round one. If this is done, then Growth Chess will refund your entry fee less $5 for admin fees.
