With Non-rated Swiss

Fox Valley Chess Club is proud to offer RATED quads with a non-rated Swiss-paired section as well, to give our little ones a little more experience.  We meet at the same location on Thursday evenings if interested.

Format: Three games of Game/40 minutes per side plus 5-second delay for quads in rated sections

Non-rated format: No initial clock for non-rateds but clock may be dropped with 5-minutes per side. Four rounds promised, another game may be provided for playoff purposes or extra experience. Use the number 0 to register if you don't have a US Chess ID number.

All equipment provided for player convenience. This is meant to be a FUN event -- please don't spoil the fun!

Awards: Not fancy but winners will definitely receive very nice prizes. Good sportsmanship will also be recognized.

Location: Golconda Restaurant Banquet Hall, on Ogden, next door to Patel Brothers Grocery

Rated Quads Schedule:
9:50am: Check-in begins -- MUST check-in no later than 10:00am or your place will be forfeited. If that happens, you can play in the non-rated Swiss starting with the 2nd round. Please wait patiently for the door to be opened -- and please help set up a set or two.

10:10am: First Round -- and the fun -- begins!

Lunch available at Golconda next door -- such a deal for incredible buffet, organizer will provide discount coupon for all family members.

12:30pm: Second Round begins (may begin earlier at organizer discretion)

2:00pm: Third Round begins (may begin earlier at organizer discretion)

3:30pm Awards: modest but memorable

Non-Rated Swiss schedule: As soon as possible rounds.  Four rounds promised. But a fifth game may be added if time permits and necessary to break ties.  Otherwise, a fifth game may be played that will NOT be included in the results, but will add experience.

No-show consequences: 

Chess teaches consequence and there will be significant consequences for no-shows.

Rated quads will be adjusted to avoid pairing siblings. Same for non-rated Swiss-paired section.
