Chess Club at UWM Blitz Side Event to the 2025 Geek Week Open
Geek Week is an annual week-long event held at UWM designed to celebrate and explore the diverse interests that make up UWM's vibrant geek culture. Each day, various activities are run and the Chess Club at UWM was granted a bid to run the Geek Week Open chess tournament. This is a low-stakes chess tournament designed to allow players the chance to try US Chess Federation rated chess with no pressure of prizes.
Format: One seven-round Swiss rated section
Schedule: Geek Week Open until 5:30 pm; Rated blitz round times at 6 pm, 6:15, 6:30, 6:45, 7:00, 7:15, and 7:30
Venue: UWM Student Union Alumni Fireside Lounge, 2200 E Kenwood Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53211
Time controls: Game in 5 minutes, no delay or increment
Entry Fee: Free!
