2024 Mississippi State Women’s Championship

 

Sept 14th, 2024 Open to all states. Only Mississippi residents may win titles/trophies. Prize funds will be split in the case of ties. Plaque and title by tiebreaks if required.

SPECIAL OFFER: For any new USCF member in this event playing in their
first tournament we will offer a free entry fee. We will make the same offer
to any player in this event rejoining after at least a 3 year absence.

Format: 4SS, G45 +15

 

Entry Fee: $20 by September 1, $25 after 

Payment accepted on site (Cash or Check) before Check In.  

 

Registrants will be posted at www.mcachess.org.

 

All chess equipment will be provided. 

 

All players are required to take manual notation using scoresheets provided by the tournament director.

 

Three sections, Open, Reserve, and Under 12 (age). All players are eligible to play in the Open section. The Reserve section is open only to players with ratings under 600.  One half point bye available for all but last round. Must declare before the start of the 2nd round.

 

Schedule:  4 Rounds no elimination.  All rounds will be played 45 minutes for each player with 15 seconds added to the player’s clock for each move completed.

 

Saturday:  9:00 AM, 11:15 AM, 2:15 PM, 4:30 PM

 

Awards Ceremony to follow last round or tiebreaks.  Plaques or trophies will be given for the top 3 finishers.

 

One half-point bye only is available and must be requested before the start of the tournament.

 

Tiebreaks: 1st place in the Open section, if tied, will be determined by two G/10 inc/5 quick games to be played after the end of the last round.  In the event of a tie with three or four players, a single round robin will be played. In the event of a tie from the quick games, tied players will repeat the timebreak with a G/5 time control until there is a single winner.  Tie breaks for 2nd and 3rd in the Open and all places in Reserve, if necessary, will be determined using the following system(s):  1. Modified Mean 2. Solkoff 3. Cumulative 4. Cumulative Opponent’s Score
